1.3.7. Terminology Records

All of the information collected in a single-concept terminology file is analyzed, filtered, structured, and condensed into a single-concept terminological entry. The terminological entry may be included in a publication (vocabulary or glossary), or it may be formatted for entry into a structured hardcopy collection or a computerized database. In the latter case, the entry is called a terminology record.

Essentially, you need to create a form (paper or electronic) which contains fields into which you enter information for each of the components of the record. The development of data banks and the Internet has facilitated the collection of terminology records into electronic files that are accessible online or offline for consultation by users or for content management by authorized terminologists.

The example below shows the essential data elements of a record.
