4.3.3. Paper and Pencil

The traditional method of recording terminological research findings is the notecard. If you choose this tool, you will need to buy LOTS of notecards. You will also need some kind of card organizer and management system. This could mean shoeboxes labelled with letters of the alphabet, stored on your favourite set of shelves.

The advantage of such a system is that it never crashes (unless your shevles collapse), but updates and cross-references can be time-consuming and onerous, making it a less cost-effective option if you record large volumes of research findings.
