[...] Une précision plus grande est obtenue en utilisant un liquide d'imprégnation fluorescent (colorant organique luminescent en solution dans de l'huile minérale). Après séchage, l'observation est effectuée dans l'obscurité, sous lumière noire (lampe de Wood). Les défauts apparaissent alors en brillant sur fond sombre et peuvent être photographiés. La méthode est applicable aux métaux ferreux et non ferreux.
