Détecteurs de radioactivité. Le principe de ces détecteurs est le suivant : à la sortie de la colonne de chromatographie on adapte un diviseur d'effluents ayant un rapport de division de 90/10 par exemple; 10% des effluents sont envoyés au détecteur afin d'enregistrer leur sortie et de les repérer : 90% des effluents sont envoyés par un tube capillaire chauffé dans une chambre à combustion. Cette chambre à combustion se compose d'un tube en quartz d'environ 4 à 6 cm de diamètre interne rempli d'oxyde de cuivre sous forme de paillettes et ce tube est placé à l'intérieur d'un four électrique chauffant
