Parmi les stipulations novatoires, il faut mettre à part la stipulation Aquilienne, dont la formule a été composée par le jurisconsulte Aquilius Gallus. Elle s'applique non seulement aux obligations, mais aussi aux droits réels; elle se compose d'une stipulation et d'une acceptilation : la première sert à transformer en une créance unique tous les droits réels ou de créance qu'on a contre une personne; la seconde à éteindre la créance ainsi formée.
