The Canada CDED consists of an ordered array of ground elevations at regularly spaced intervals. It is based on National Topographic System (NTS) maps at the 1:250 000 scale. Other complementary sources includes elevation data, aerotriangulation control points, and geodetic control points. Natural Resources Canada.

Les Données numériques d'élévation du Canada (DNEC) sont constituées de quadrillage d'élévations de terrain à intervalles réguliers. Ces DNEC sont basées sur les fichiers numériques de la Base nationale de données topographiques (BNDT) à l'échelle du 1/250 000, selon le Système national de référence cartographique (SNRC). Ils ont aussi comme source complémentaire les données d'élévation, les points de contrôle d'aérotriangulation et les points géodésiques.
