Launched in May 1983, it grew out of a food bank operated by the Mennonite Central Committee ... The Grains Bank represents a charitable contribution from Canadian farmers. Grain gleaned in good times is sent out to help victims of drought or flood or to feed refugees around the world ... Although wheat is predominant, maize, beans, and rapeseed are also included.
