The National Gallery's volunteer Docents form a team that is integrated with the Gallery's Education division, and is specially trained to interact with the public on an educational level. The docent's main role consists of showing visitors works of art from permanent or temporary exhibitions, suggesting methods of interpretation, and enhancing their appreciation.

Les guides bénévoles constituent une équipe intégrée à la Division de l'éducation, formée spécialement pour intervenir auprès du public dans le cadre de la mission éducative du Musée. Le rôle principal du guide bénévole consiste à présenter au public les œuvres des expositions permanentes et temporaires, en proposant des façons de les interpréter afin que le public les apprécie davantage.
