The National Gallery's volunteer Docents form a team that is integrated with the Gallery's Education division, and is specially trained to interact with the public on an educational level. The docent's main role consists of showing visitors works of art from permanent or temporary exhibitions, suggesting methods of interpretation, and enhancing their appreciation.
