OBS

An environmental and social studies fund the objective of which is to determine the terms and conditions under which exploration development and production activities on frontier land, authorized under the Canada Petroleum Resources Act or any other act of Parliament, should be conducted.

There shall be established in the accounts of Canada (a) an account under the administrative responsibility of the Minister of Natural Resources, to be known as the Environmental Studies Research Fund (NR), which shall include a sub-account for each (b) an account under the administrative responsibility of the Minister of Indian Affairs and Northern Development, to be known as the Environmental Studies Research Fund (IAND), which shall include a sub-account for each prescribed region of frontier lands within the area under that Minister's responsibility. Purpose of Funds (2) The purpose of the Funds is to finance environmental and social studies pertaining to the manner in which, and the terms and conditions under which, exploration, development and production activities on frontier lands authorized under this Act or any other Act of Parliament should be conducted. Sont ouverts parmi les comptes du Canada un compte placé sous la responsabilité administrative du ministre des Ressources naturelles, appelé Fonds pour l'étude de l'environnement (RN) et un compte placé sous celle du ministre des Affaires indiennes et du Nord canadien, appelé Fonds pour l'étude de l'environnement (AINC); chaque compte doit comprendre un compte secondaire pour chaque région du territoire placé sous la responsabilité du ministre. Objet des fonds (2) Les fonds ont pour objet de financer les études prévues sous le régime de la présente loi ou de toute autre loi fédérale portant sur l'environnement relativement aux activités de prospection, de mise en valeur et de production sur les terres domaniales.
