To improve public access to information on the environment and thus contribute in the long term to the prevention and reduction of pollution, the European Union (EU) is setting up a European pollutant release and transfer register (PRTR). Regulation (EC) sets up a Pollutant Release and Transfer Register (PRTR) at European Union (EU) level in the form of a publicly accessible electronic database. This database will meet the requirements of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (UN-ECE) Protocol on Pollutant Release and Transfer Registers, signed by the Community in May 2003. The public will be able to access this register free of charge on the internet and will be able to find information using various search criteria (type of pollutant, geographical location, affected environment, source facility, etc.).

Afin d'améliorer l'accès du public à l'information en matière d'environnement et donc, à terme, de contribuer à la prévention et à la réduction de la pollution, l'Union européenne (UE) met en place un registre européen des rejets et transferts de polluants (PRTR). Le règlement (CE) crée, au niveau de l'Union européenne (UE), un registre des rejets et transferts de polluants (PRTR), sous forme d'une base de données électronique accessible au public. Cette base de données répond aux exigences posées par le protocole de la Commission des Nations Unies pour l'Europe (CEE-ONU) sur les registres des rejets et transferts de polluants, que la Communauté a signé en mai 2003. Ce registre sera accessible au public gratuitement sur internet. Les informations qu'il contient pourront être recherchées en fonction de divers critères (type de polluant, localisation géographique, milieu affecté, établissement source, etc.).

Con el fin de fomentar el acceso público a la información medioambiental y contribuir asi a la prevención y reducción de la contaminación, la Unión Europea (UE) va a instaurar un Registro europeo de emisiones y transferencias de contaminantes (RETC). Por el Reglamento (CE) se crea, a nivel de la Unión Europea (UE), un registro de emisiones y transferencias de contaminantes (RETC) en forma de base de datos electrónica accesible al público. Esta base de datos responde a las exigencias fijadas por el Protocolo de la Comisión de las Naciones Unidas para Europa (CÉPE/ONU) para los registros de emisiones y transferencias de contaminantes, Protocolo que la Comunidad firmó en mayo de 2003. El registro será accesible al público por Internet de forma gratuita. La información en él contenida podrá ser consultada con arreglo a distintos criterios (tipo de contaminantes, localización geográfica medio afectado, establecimiento difusor, etc.
