The Global Baseline Surface Radiation Network (GBSRN) has been designed in response to the Joint Scientific Committee (JSC) Working Group on Radiative Fluxes (WGRF) recommendation that the World Climate Research Program (WCRP) establish a global baseline network of surface stations to support studies of global climate change. The mission of this network would be: to monitor long-term trends in radiation fluxes at the surface to provide validation data for satellite determinations of surface radiation budget.
