The Steam System. ... Safety valves protect the steam system components from over pressure. The pressure from the boilers drives the steam to the high-pressure (HP) turbine. On route to the turbine, the steam travels through several valves. Two, of interest, are the emergency stop valve and the governor valve. The governor valve varies the electrical output from no load to full load by controlling the quantity of steam flowing to the turbine.

Le circuit de vapeur. [...] La soupape de sécurité protège de la surpression les organes du circuit de vapeur. La pression dans le générateur propulse la vapeur dans la turbine haute pression (HP). La vapeur doit traverser plusieurs vannes avant d'aboutir à la turbine, notamment la vanne d'arrêt d'urgence et la vanne de régulation. En ajustant la quantité de vapeur s'écoulant vers la turbine avec la vanne de régulation, on peut varier la production d'électricité de zéro à la pleine puissance.
