Another traditional Christmas function is the “At Home.” This function is generally alternately hosted by the officers’ mess and the warrant officers’ and sergeants’ mess. The function is a cocktail party held on an afternoon prior to Christmas; the dress is service dress. The members of the hosting mess form a receiving line at their mess to greet the members of the other mess who generally arrive en masse.
