OBS

An agreement that has been in force since 1969. It attempts to maintain stable and remunerative export prices by means of export quotas for that part of the international market (about half) not covered by the U.S. Sugar Act, the Commonwealth Surgar Agreement, and the Soviet-Cuban purchase arrangements.

Acuerdo con los objetivos de: Asegurar suministros de azúcar a los países importadores, asegurar mercados para los países exportadores de azúcar a precios justos y estables; incrementar el consumo de azúcar en todo el mundo; mantener el poder adquisitivo de países o áreas en que la economía depende en gran medida de la producción o exportación de azúcar. La cantidad de azúcar comercializada bajo el Acuerdo corresponde al 10% de la producción mundial. Sede Central: Londres, Inglaterra.
