The Leader of the Opposition is the primary spokesperson for the Official Opposition, whose role is to assess government policies and programs, to hold the government to account or draw attention to government inaction, and to offer constructive criticism and alternatives.

OBS

According to the “Parliamentary Publications Text Style Guidelines,” the official titles of high-ranking officials should be capitalized when referring to present office-holders, but unofficial and general titles are usually lower cased. In general usage, the capitalization of the different forms of this title varies greatly from one source to another, and sometimes within the same source. However, the use of capital letters is more common.
