This mobile, after-hours service for psychiatric emergencies is jointly operated by the Greater Vancouver Mental Health Service (GVMHS) and the Vancouver Police Department. M.H.E.S./Car 87, an unmarked police patrol unit operated by a mental health nurse and a plain clothes police officer, responds daily to mental health emergencies in downtown Vancouver between the hours of 5 p.m. and 3 a.m.
