In October 2005, taking stock of 10 years of collaboration on Francophone Affairs, delegates adopted a new name: “Ministerial Conference on the Canadian Francophonie.” This wording better reflects the strength and vitality of all francophone and Acadian communities in Canada.

The main objectives are to: handle issues relating to francophone affairs; make certain commitments regarding francophone affairs; guide intergovernmental cooperation activities; individually and collectively act as a catalyst for the advancement of francophone affairs.

En octobre 2005, prenant acte de dix ans de collaboration dans le dossier des affaires francophones, la conférence modifie son nom pour devenir la « Conférence ministérielle sur la francophonie canadienne », nom qui reflète davantage la force et la vitalité des communautés francophones et acadiennes du Canada.
