Correctional Service of Canada. The objective of the Mother-child Program is to provide mechanisms that foster and promote stability and continuity for the child in its relationship with its mother. The best interests of the child, including the physical, emotional and spiritual well-being of the child is the primary consideration in decisions relating to participation in the Mother-child Program. The program was piloted at the Okimaw Ohci Healing Lodge in July 1996 and full-time implementation began at Okimaw Ohci in 1997. Regional institutions have begun gradual implementation in 1998. This program is not available in maximum security units.

Service correctionnel du Canada. Le Programme mère-enfant a pour objectif de favoriser et d'encourager une relation stable et continue entre un enfant et sa mère. Le meilleur intérêt de l'enfant, y compris le bien-être physique, émotionnel et spirituel, est le critère premier de la participation à ce programme, lequel a été mis à l'essai en juillet 1996 au pavillon de ressourcement Okimaw Ohci, puis mis en œuvre à cet endroit en 1997. Le programme a été implanté progressivement dans les établissements régionaux en 1998. Il n'est pas offert dans les unités à sécurité maximale.
