Le Parti communiste français (PCF) est un parti politique français classé à gauche, enraciné dans le paysage politique français de par sa longue histoire : il fut fondé en décembre 1920 au congrès de Tours de la SFIO [Section française de l'Internationale ouvrière], lors d'un congrès appelé à décider de l'adhésion à l'Internationale communiste; la majorité du Congrès ayant décidé de cette adhésion, la minorité a alors décidé de faire scission.
