Spectrométrie Raman. Une partie du rayonnement, qui n'est pas absorbée par une substance, est diffusée dans toutes les directions. La majeure partie du rayonnement diffusé l'est sans changement de fréquence, mais une faible partie est diffusée avec changement de fréquence (effet Raman). Les différences de fréquence observées sont caractéristiques des vibrations de la molécule qui a diffusé le rayonnement.
