STEREO (Solar TErrestrial RElations Observatory) is the third mission in NASA's Solar Terrestrial Probes program (STP). It employs two nearly identical space-based observatories - one ahead of Earth in its orbit, the other trailing behind - to provide the first-ever stereoscopic measurements to study the Sun and the nature of its coronal mass ejections, or CMEs.

[...] La mission STEREO (Solar Terrestrial Relations Observatory) de la NASA comprend deux satellites dérivant graduellement en amont (ST-A) et en aval (ST-B) de la Terre le long d’orbites similaires autour du Soleil. STEREO est la première mission possédant à la fois des instruments de mesure in situ et en imagerie à partir de deux points d’observation distants dans l’héliosphère.
