The mandate of the Safety, Emergency and Security Management Division (SESMD) is to establish and maintain a level of safety and security sufficient to protect employees, information and other valuable assets. It is SESMD's responsibility to develop relative policies and working tools, provide expert advice and consultative services to the clients and respond to emergency situations. The Departmental Occupational Safety and Health Program which is governed by legislation, is managed through SESMD in liaison with the occupational health and safety committees nationally.

Le mandat de la Division de la gestion de la sécurité et des mesures d'urgence (DGSMU) est d'établir et de maintenir un niveau de sécurité suffisant pour protéger employés, renseignements et biens de valeur. Il incombe à la DGSMU de développer des politiques et des outils de travail relatifs à la sécurité, d'offrir des conseils et des services en consultation aux clients et de répondre aux situations d'urgence. Le Programme ministériel de la santé et sécurité au travail, qui est gouverné par législation, est géré par la DGSMU en liaison avec les comités nationaux de la santé et sécurité au travail.
