The Saskatchewan Financial Services Commission (SFSC) was established on February 1, 2003 through the amalgamation of the Saskatchewan Securities Commission, the Financial Institutions Section of the Consumer Protection Branch and the Pension Benefits Branch. SFSC is Saskatchewan's primary regulator of the financial services industry, including the credit union system, insurance, pensions, securities, and trust and loans. Regulatory responsibilities include providing input into developing provincial legislation, regulations, policies and standards (the rules); interpreting and applying the rules; and, taking appropriate action to protect the rights and interests of consumers of financial services when the rules are broken.
