In December 2001, DLLA (Desjardins-Laurentian Life Assurance) and Imperial Life merged to create Desjardins Financial Security Life Assurance Company (Desjardins Financial Security). This new company oversees the financial security of some 5 million Canadians and is ranked the eighth largest life and health insurance company in Canada.
