Le montant de cet actif est calculé avant déduction de toute provision pour moins-value qu'il serait jugé nécessaire de constituer. Selon le résultat du calcul, l'entité constate soit un actif, soit un passif.

OBS

Le Conseil des normes comptables internationales - CNCI (International Accounting Standards Board - IASB) fait usage de «actif au titre des avantages accumulés» pour décrire la notion.
