Carcinoid of the Appendix ... Carcinoid tumors can occur throughout the G.I. tract, as well as in other organ systems. In the intestine, the tip of the appendix is the most common location for these tumors.

Au sens strict, le terme carcinoïde désigne des tumeurs développées à partir de la cellule entérochromaffine (EC), caractérisée [...] au plan histochimique par son argentaffinité (fixation directe des sels d'argent) [...] Mais toutes les tumeurs de morphologie carcinoïdienne ne sont pas des tumeurs à cellules EC : on distinguait classiquement les carcinoïdes argentaffines, les carcinoïdes argyrophiles non argentaffines (ne fixant l'argent qu'après adjonction d'un réducteur) et les carcinoïdes non réactifs. Seuls les premiers sont à cellules EC.
