Esta enfermedad puede dividirse según su evolución en subaguda y aguda. La endocarditis subaguda evoluciona mucho más lentamente que la aguda y presenta menos síntomas, por lo que suele ser más leve que la endocarditis aguda. [...] Aunque los síntomas de la endocarditis bacteriana no son muy distintivos, casi todos los pacientes durante la enfermedad presentan fiebre o un soplo cardíaco que, bien se presenta por primera vez, se agrava o se altera.
