One of several small groups within a larger class or group which assembles usually after a general session for the purpose of discussing a presentation, analyzing a problem, or preparing questions for the larger group.

Buzz groups are usually seated in a circle. The chairman makes certain that the members of the group know each other. ... This method is most effective when the audience is divided into buzz groups of 10 to 15 persons.

A buzz group consists of four to six people who meet for five to ten minutes to discuss a task assigned by the instructor. The small group forms a circle, which encourages everyone in the group to participate in the discussion. The buzz group does not have a designated leader, although one person may be selected as a recorder or reporter to present the outcomes of the discussion to the larger group.
