On désigne les papiers couchés pour publication par un numéro de 1 à 5 [...] Le chiffre 1 représente la meilleure qualité de papier et le chiffre 5 la moins bonne. Le grammage de ces papiers varie de 47 à 103 g/m². Le poids de couche varie, mais dans le cas des papiers les plus légers, le poids total de la couche sur les deux faces représente de 20 à 30 % du poids total de la feuille. Aussi, le support de base peut-il avoir un grammage qui ne dépasse pas 33 g/m².
