[...] le Canada à l'instar de la plupart des pays occidentaux, s'apprête à vivre un important virage démographique, à l'heure où la population de 65 ans et plus connaît une augmentation sans précédent. À cet égard, on notera que la hausse démographique chez les personnes de 80 ans et plus s'avère encore plus marquée. On parle souvent de «crise» pour évoquer ce vieillissement des baby-boomers, puisque cette mutation démographique suppose d'importants défis en matière de politiques sociales et de soins de santé.
