Dans un pan de bois ou une charpente métallique, la décharge désigne toute pièce oblique fixée entre deux traverses horizontales à l'aplomb l'une de l'autre, pour reporter les charges de celle du haut vers celle du bas (des pièces verticales ayant la même fonction se nomment potelets ou poteaux).
