Récepteur superhétérodyne dans lequel la fréquence porteuse subit deux changements. Par conséquent ces appareils ont deux fréquences intermédiaires (FI) : la première est relativement élevée avec une large bande passante, et la seconde, beaucoup plus basse, est aussi beaucoup plus sélective. Ainsi, le récepteur à double changement de fréquence rejette facilement les fréquences images grâce à sa première FI et offre une grande sélectivité grâce à sa seconde FI.
