Elective service is any period of employment, either in the Public Service or with some other employer that occurred before the employee became a contributor to the Public Service Pension Plan. The plan member may choose to count these periods of prior service as pensionable service.

OBS

elective pensionable service: "Elective" means that the period may be purchased, i.e. credited to the employee's record, whereas "pensionable" means that it has already been credited. Therefore, it is better to simply use the term "elective service."

Le service accompagné d'option porte sur toute période d'emploi, dans la fonction publique ou ailleurs, qui est antérieure au début des cotisations de l'employé au Régime de pension de retraite de la fonction publique. Le participant doit faire un choix pour faire compter ces périodes de service antérieur dans le calcul de sa pension.

OBS

service accompagné d'option et ouvrant droit à pension : «Accompagné d'option» signifie que la période peut être rachetée, c'est-à-dire portée au crédit de l'employé, tandis que «ouvrant droit à pension» signifie qu'elle a déjà été portée au crédit de l'employé. Il est donc préférable d'employer simplement «service accompagné d'option».
