Au sol, la rupture de la manille de liaison entre le guignol et les câbles de profondeur est constatée. Cette rupture est due à une usure par frottement. L'appareil avait subi toutes les visites périodiques prévues au sein d'une unité d'entretien agréée. Il avait volé soixante et une heure depuis la dernière inspection de la timonerie et cent soixante dix heures depuis le renouvellement du certificat de navigabilité. Aucune intervention sur la timonerie de profondeur n'est inscrite sur le livret d'aéronef dans ces intervalles de temps.
