A form of epithelial dysplasia, which may range in severity from mild disorientation of epithelial cells with variable cellular pleomorphism to changes of carcinoma in situ and even invasive carcinoma, usually found on the uncircumcised glans penis and prepuce, and occasionally on the vulva. It is typically characterized by the development of a slowly growing, circumscribed, erythematous, usually moist, velvety, and shiny patch.

Tumeur quelquefois cancéreuse correspondant à une forme précancéreuse (stade situé avant le cancer) donnant au gland un aspect velouté, recouvert de pigments de coloration rougeâtre, bien délimité, et localisé sur le gland ou sur le sillon balano-préputial.

OBS

L'érythroplasie de Queyrat se développe habituellement sur la muqueuse pénienne chez les hommes non circoncis, et est parfois associée au virus du papillome humain.

OBS

Le carcinome in situ est appelé érythroplasie de Queyrat s'il siège sur le gland, le prépuce ou le corps de la verge, et maladie de Bowen s'il siège sur le reste des organes génitaux ou sur le périnée.
