garbage can [2 records]

Record 1 1983-03-03

English

Subject field(s)
  • Waste Management
OBS

This term is popularly used to describe a container holding any type of domestic solid waste, although by APWA definition it applies only to a container that holds food waste (garbage container). In order to avoid confusion, experts often use the more general term "(solid waste/refuse) receptacle or container" (cf. container), especially in solid waste by-laws. "Refuse can" is also used.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Gestion des déchets
OBS

Record 2 1983-03-03

English

Subject field(s)
  • Waste Management
OBS

"Refuse containers" means garbage and rubbish containers and ash containers.

OBS

for "garbage can" : Although according to the APWA this is the proper meaning of garbage can (i.e. a can which holds food waste only), the term is often given a broader meaning.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Gestion des déchets
OBS
