In posterior dislocation of the shoulder, absence of the normal overlap between the medial part of the head of the humerus and the glenoid fossa. This overlap produces a semilunar shadow that reaches down to the inferior border of the fossa and thus is designated as the half-moon overlap. [From EISER, 1984, p. 340.]

Lorsque la glène, mal enfilée, se projette sous forme d'une ellipse verticale, on note au lieu de l'image de superposition de la tête et de la glène, un élargissement paradoxal de l'interligne gléno-huméral. La partie interne de la tête apparaît alors éloignée du contour interne de la glène. Ce signe s'avère très caractéristique de la luxation postérieure.
