Hydroplaning happens when one or more tires is lifted from the road by a wedge of water that gets trapped in front of and under a tire as the vehicle drives through water. Hydroplaning most frequently occurs during heavy rainstorms when water creates puddles on the highway or expressway.

[...] A pesar de que se trata de un término extendido en el español actual, existen equivalentes que no requieren resalte tipográfico, como hidroplaneo y acuaplaneo [...] No obstante, si se opta por el término inglés, lo adecuado es escribirlo con cursiva y recordar que se trata de una sola palabra, con q —no con c—, sin guion, y con una sola ene: "aquaplaning".
