Maximum evapotranspiration (ETm) was estimated by the water balance method and reference evapotranspiration (ETo) by the following methods: Penman, class A pan, solar radiation and Thornthwaite. The crop coefficient values varied with the method used to estimate the reference evapotranspiration, although they have presented the same trends regardless the method involved.

L'évapotranspiration maximale ETm d'une culture est la valeur de l'évapotranspiration, en l'absence d'advection, quand les conditions d'alimentation hydrique sont optimales, c'est-à-dire quand l'humidité du sol est proche de la capacité au champ dans la zone racinaire; dans ces conditions la résistance stomatique est minimale et la résistance de l'espace poreux végétal rp intervient; cette dernière dépend de l'espèce végétale et de son stade végétatif. L'évapotranspiration ETm peut être reliée à l'évaporation potentielle EP par des coefficients culturaux empiriques inférieurs à l'unité.
