Place. Terme de Cloutier; c'est un ustensile de fer enfoncé par le pied dans un gros bloc de bois, qui sert comme établi au cloutier pour fabriquer ses clous. Cet ustensile est une espèce d'enclume plus plate que carrée, plus large par en-haut que par en-bas, dont la surface supérieure est unie et carrée d'un côté, et allongée de l'autre; c'est sur cet instrument que les ouvriers forgent et amenuisent leur baguette de fer pour en former des clous; il sert aussi pour appuyer la clouillère.
