La phaco-émulsification: Cette méthode introduite par Kelman en 1967 utilise un système à double courant comprenant aspiration et irrigation, un contrôle électronique équilibrant les pressions. La fragmentation est réalisée par la vibration ultrasonique à haute fréquence d'une tige en titane qui casse les fibres cristalliniennes et le vitré, permettant leur aspiration.
