reflectance [4 records]

Record 1 - external organization data 2009-08-04

English

Subject field(s)
  • Compartment - ISO/IEC JTC 1 Information Technology Vocabulary
Universal entry(ies)
02.02.07 (19762)
ISO/IEC standard entry number
DEF

ratio of the reflected radiant or luminous flux to the incident flux in incident radiation of given spectral composition, polarization and geometrical distribution [IEC 50 (845), 845-04-58]

OBS

Reflectance (sometimes in AIDC techniques called reflectance factor) is measured on a scale of 0 to 1, at a wavelength or bandwidth of light (spectral response) specified in the particular application specification.

OBS

Barium sulphate or magnesium oxide are used as 'near perfect' reference white standards (a perfect standard of pure white would have a reflectance of 1,00 at any wavelength of light). The absence of any light in a vacuum is used as reference black standard.

OBS

Samples (such as substrates, inks, etc.) are tested against the standards under similar illumination.

OBS

reflectance: term and definition standardized by ISO/IEC [ISO/IEC 19762-2:2008].

Record 2 2007-01-31

English

Subject field(s)
  • Radio Waves
  • Waveguides
DEF

The ratio of the complex number (vector) representing the phase and magnitude of the electric field of the backward-travelling wave to that representing the forward-travelling wave at a cross-section of a waveguide.

OBS

The term is also used to denote the modulus of this complex ratio.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Ondes radioélectriques
  • Guides d'ondes
DEF

Rapport des deux nombres complexes représentant les vecteurs champ électrique respectivement de l'onde réfléchie et de l'onde incidente, en une section déterminée du guide.

OBS

Ce terme s'applique aussi au module de ce rapport.

Spanish

Campo(s) temático(s)
  • Ondas radioeléctricas
  • Guías de ondas

English

Subject field(s)
  • Atmospheric Physics
  • Space Physics
DEF

Ratio of the radiant or luminous flux reflected by a particular surface to that incident on it.

OBS

Reflectance: formerly reflection factor.

OBS

reflectance: term officially approved by the RADARSAT-2 Terminology Approval Group (RTAG).

PHR

Bidirectional reflectance factor.

PHR

Ground, plant, rock, snow, water reflectance.

Key term(s)

French

Domaine(s)
  • Physique de l'atmosphère
  • Physique spatiale
DEF

Spanish

Campo(s) temático(s)
  • Física de la atmósfera

Record 4 1991-02-22

English

Subject field(s)
  • Photography
  • Pulp and Paper
  • General Scientific and Technical Vocabulary
DEF

The ratio of energy returning from the surface of a sample to that returning from a reference surface, as measured by a specific apparatus.

OBS

In photographic applications, the reference is often the base of the photographic printing material.

OBS

The term reflection factor is now recommended instead of the more usual reflectance.

French

Domaine(s)
  • Photographie
  • Pâtes et papier
  • Vocabulaire technique et scientifique général
DEF

Quantité de lumière incidente, d'une longueur d'onde déterminée, renvoyée par une surface.

OBS

Rapport du flux réfléchi au flux incident.
