Il est à noter que selon le LAROG, le foyer "est à la fois un lieu et un ensemble d'appareils ou d'organes [...]". MOMON utilise foyer au sens de dispositif.

Dans la source MOMON, le foyer automatique désigne l'avant-foyer, dans la source NFMEC, il regroupe les brûleurs avant-foyer, les brûleurs à vis et à poussoirs, les grilles mécaniques et les brûleurs à projection.
