To obtain a "stratified random sample", the commodity to be investigated is considered as consisting of a number of sections (strata). The strata may be selected before sampling by any convenient method of subdivision such as time, quantity or space. One or several increments are extracted from each section, the position of the increments within the section being taken at random. The precision of sampling may be increased by planned distribution of the number of increments between the strata. 1, record 2, English, - stratified%20random%20sample

1, record 2, French, - %C3%A9chantillon%20stratifi%C3%A9%20au%20hasard
