Ainsi, l'employé supervisé ne devrait pas prendre de décisions d'ingénierie sans consulter l'ingénieur superviseur et obtenir son approbation, mais plutôt travailler à mettre en œuvre les décisions prises par ce dernier. La responsabilité à l'égard des décisions d'ingénierie n'oblige pas l'ingénieur superviseur à prendre toutes les décisions relatives à un projet sans exception.
