Infective larvae are transferred (from host-to-host) by the consumption of raw or undercooked infected meat.

[The] majority of infected individuals are asymptomatic. Clinical manifestations in heavily infected persons include diarrhea, myalgias, fever, and, less commonly, myocarditis and neurologic disease.
