Le montage humide convient bien pour le collage de grands formats barytés sur panneaux de bois. L'épreuve qui s'allonge à l'état humide se rétracte lors du séchage et provoque de fortes tensions sur le support qui doit être suffisamment rigide pour ne pas se déformer. En revanche, cette tension du papier assure une surface extrêmement lisse.
