A lignin-preserving, powerful bleaching agent which brightens pulp by reducing carbonyl groups, thereby increasing the brightness stability.

OBS

Its high cost makes commercial application prohibitive. However, it is widely used for on-site manufacture of sodium hydrosulphite.
