Quand on arrête un filtre, le débit total entrant est automatiquement réparti sur les filtres restant en service (sauf dans les filtres à balayage de surface où l'eau continue à alimenter le filtre en cours de lavage) et en aucun cas on ne risque de découvrir le lit filtrant car, si le plan d'eau s'abaisse, la boîte de partialisation s'ouvre en grand et désamorce le siphon.
