La psychiatrie sociale anglo-saxonne a proposé le terme «precare» (construit selon le même principe que post-cure, d'où le néologisme « précure ») pour désigner l'aspect préventif des soins médicaux. Carrefour où l'action médicale s'intègre à la prévention sociale, la précure désigne l'action entreprise par les travailleurs de santé pour empêcher un individu en difficulté de devenir « un malade ».
